Still Life picture

October 4:

What visually makes you who you are?
I don't know who I am. That is what I am still trying to figure out. The objects I brought in represent me because they are some of my favorite things and memories.

What is the importance of appearance?
Appearance is very important to me.  My appearance is the first thing that people see of me, and I always want to make a good first impression.

What objects have you chosen to bring in that represent you?
The objects I have chosen that represent me include: an old, rusty key, a dreamcatcher, a geode, my MAAI (Modeling Association of America International) medals, books, sea shells, nail polish, a candle,  teapot (my stuffed panda), and a picture of my older brother and I.

How are each of these objects significant/symbolic of part of your identity?
The old rusty key and dreamcatcher are items that I collect. I love the mystery behind an old key, and dreamcatchers are related to the culture of my Native American ancestors.  The geode represents the connection my dad and I have.  We have a tradition in which we go shooting followed by rock hunting.  Modeling and Acting is a passion of mine, which is why I have included the medals from an international modeling competition in New York City, in which I took home first place. I have also included a stack of books because I am an avid reader.  I love being immersed in another character's head and getting lost in another world.   I have a handful of sea shells from different places around the world because I love the beach and I collect sea shells.  I included bottles of nail polish because the tidiness of my appearance is important to me. I am very meticulous, but I also love to paint my nails.  A candle is not really significant or symbolic to me in any way. It was included in my still life because I love candles! Teapot is a childhood toy of mine. He is a stuffed panda that my great-grandmother gave to me for my third birthday. Ever since then, I have loved pandas.  Last is a picture of my older brother, Brian, and I.  My brother was my hero when I was growing up.  Two weeks before school started, he passed away.  I included the picture in my still life because he still means the world to me.

How have you chosen to arrange/light/photograph these objects? Why?
There was not a specific rhyme or reason to the way that I arranged my still life. I just put everything out on the table and set it up.

Is there significance to the fabric that you brought in? If so, what is the significance of the fabric?
I brought in two fabrics. The creme blanket does not have any significance; it is just a blanket. The other fabric I brought in though does mean something to me.  It is a scarf, well, actually it's my favorite scarf.  My go-to, comfy outfit is a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a scarf. I love to wear scarves! This particular scarf, however is from Israel.  My Nana and Papa took a trip to the holy land and brought me back an Israeli pashmina.
